HISTORY OF THE COMPANY AND OUR CREW

HISTORY
John Brokaar as a "one
man concern" on French St Martin originally started the company in 1991.
In 1993 his father, Jan Brokaar, joined him and they started the firm Brokaar
Marine Services N.V.
on Dutch St Maarten.
At that stage the company had 2 employees and
was involved in all types
of marine related activities. In 1993 the remains of what used to be a
6" Mud-cat suction cutter-dredge was acquired [which was completely re-build]
as well
as a 26' dive / work boat. It was primarily then that the company started
to specialize
in commercial diving, salvage and marine construction.
During the passing of 7 hurricanes since 1995,
the company grew in size and reputation
and at one point had almost 50 employees with 7 boats. John Brokaar though
realizing
that the quantity was affecting the quality of the work, reduced the size
of the company
to 3 boats and a small, highly trained, experienced and reliable crew.
It is because of this that over the past 3 years the company's reputation
has made them active in
almost all the surrounding islands, from Dominica to The US Virgin Islands,
from the United Kingdom
to as far as Malaysia in South East Asia.
In 2002 Jan Brokaar passed away and Dive Services N.V. was created
to take over the activities of Brokaar Marine Services N.V.
